Interleague play is fun for the fans, as we get to see American League teams take on National League teams. A couple of interesting matchups this week were Boston hosting Milwaukee and the New York Yankees against the Chicago Cubs. The Red Sox have continued to stay hot as they maintain the best record in the American League. The Philadelphia Phillies have been equally hot, as they still have the best record in major league baseball. There are a couple of interesting streaks going on: the Minnesota Twins have won seven in a row and nine of their last ten, and the Florida Marlins have lost ten in a row. Let’s take a look at this week’s power rankings.

The Red Sox have continued to stay hot as they maintain the best record in the American League.

This Week’s Power Rankings

RankTeamNotes
1Boston Red SoxNo reason to remove them, as they have won 13 of their last 15 games, including 2 of 3 against the NL Central leaders.
2Philadelphia PhilliesThey still have the best record in the majors, but they’re not ready to take the top spot.
3New York YankeesEven with their shaky pitching staff, they’re still pumping out win after win.
4Cleveland IndiansAfter a slump, they have now won three in a row and remain in first place in the Central.
5Atlanta BravesThey have cooled off, but Jason Heyward is back in the lineup. Hopefully Tommy Hanson won’t be out too long.
6Milwaukee BrewersThey ran into a red-hot Red Sox team, but they are for real.
7Tampa Bay RaysThey have the bad luck of being in the AL East. Their future is bright, but they’re more competitive than I thought they would be.
8Detroit TigersJustin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera are keeping this team in the thick of things.
9St. Louis CardinalsThey’re struggling, but have won two in a row now. Matt Holliday is back and looks like he hasn’t missed a beat.
10San Francisco GiantsThey have lost four in a row and have a tough time on the road, but they are still the leaders in the NL West.

On the bubble: Cincinnati Reds, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, Colorado Rockies
