ESPN’s Ric Bucher is reporting that the Warriors and 76ers have discussed a trade that would send Monta Ellis to Philadelphia and Andre Iguodala to Golden State, according to league sources. One of these sources has direct knowledge of the Warriors’ thinking. The trade would seemingly benefit each team significantly. If the Warriors were to acquire Iguodala, they’d upgrade their size and defense on the perimeter immensely. If the 76ers were to get Ellis, they’d get a big-time scorer who could allow 2010 second overall pick Evan Turner to play his more natural small forward position. The salaries of Ellis and Iguodala are close enough that no additional considerations would have to be made and league salary cap rules would be met.
