Well week 8 in the NFL is here and I’m back. Sorry I wasn’t around week 7 — I had other things to attend to. I did a pretty good job on my week 6 picks and expect even better results this week. It looks to be a tough week with SIX big teams having a bye (Falcons, Ravens, Bears, Browns, Giants, Eagles). Injuries to players like Brett Favre, Austin Collie, Alex Smith, Dallas Clark, and Tony Romo. Who can you start and who do you have to sit?
Start ‘Em
| Pos | Player | Projection | Notes |
|---|
| QB | Ryan Fitzpatrick | 300 Yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT | Should be no surprise here, after ripping the Ravens defense up for more yards than they’ve given up in a decade. You must continue to start him until he falters. |
| QB | Donovan McNabb | 300 Yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT | Redskins facing 20th-ranked passing defense in the NFL. Look for McNabb to hit up Moss and Armstrong for big gains all day. |
| RB | Jamaal Charles | 15 Car, 110 Yards, 2 TDs | Don’t let Thomas Jones scare you away here. KC faces the worst rushing defense in the NFL. Look for JC to get his first 100-yard game of the season. |
| RB | Ryan Torain | 25 Car, 142 Yards, 2 TDs | Redskins facing one of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL, and Torain getting better every week. |
| WR | Stevie Johnson | 150 Yards, 2 TDs | My boy Stevie Johnson outta Buffalo has been ON FIRE! Steve and Ryan are going together like Culpepper and Moss. Until this trend ends, START HIM. |
| WR | Blair White | 100 Yards, 1 TD | Austin Collie: Out, Anthony Gonzalez: Out, Dallas Clark: Out. Enough said. |
| TE | Owen Daniels | 45 Yards, 1 TD | Looks like my boy Daniels is finally coming back and slowly getting back to his old form. |
Sit ‘Em
| Pos | Player | Projection | Notes |
|---|
| QB | Matt Cassel | 200 Yards, 2 TD, 2 INT | Matt has finally been showing us some of his old NE days. Facing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, Buffalo Bills. How can you bench him? I expect the Bills defense to finally step up and do some damage. |
| QB | Matthew Stafford | 200 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT | Been seeing him on some people’s start-him list and I just don’t see it. He’s been out for awhile now and it will take some time to get back into his timing and the flow. |
| RB | BenJarvus Green-Ellis | 25 Yards, 0 TD | This guy has done nothing but score 1 TD a week and everyone is all over him. If 6-8 Pts in the RB position wins games for you, go ahead. |
| RB | Ryan Matthews | 75 Yards, 0 TD | He’s just not getting the ball. Same case as C.J. Spiller. You’re not going to break the big one with less than 10 carries a game. |
| WR | Wes Welker | 70 Yards, 0 TD | Vikings defense is a bit banged up, but with Moss gone Welker gets more coverage than he’s used to. |
| WR | Steve Smith (CAR) | 50 Yards, 1 TD | Look for team to keep focusing on Smith until Gettis can get a back-to-back game. |
| TE | Chris Cooley | 35 Yards, 0 TD | I expect most of McNabb’s TDs to be long bombs to Moss, nothing short. |
